About me

Eduardo Sardinha

UX researcher and product designer in Lisbon, with a psychology background (OPP License No. 28725). I work in mental health and education where research, design, and building products overlap: from PhD help-seeking studies to school tools and the startup I founded, Hopli.

Designer turned founder

Founding Hopli taught me what it takes to move a product out of the codebase and into real contexts: grants, pilots, pitches, and learning what resonates with actual users. I still design every screen, but I also understand how to get work in front of people.

Built the MVP

Designed and shipped the full product in Next.js: content feed, guided self-help, therapist matching, and async chat.

Startup programmes

Pitched at Build Up Labs Demo Day and completed the Lispolis Ignite healthtech accelerator bootcamp.

End-to-end ownership

From grants and early pilots to investor pitches: scoping, building, testing, and deciding when to pivot.

Researcher

My PhD at the University of Coimbra focused on mental health help-seeking and digital interventions. Click! and related studies grew from that work.

Help-seeking focus

Investigated why people delay support and what conditions make asking for help feel safer, feeding directly into Click! and WhyseApp.

User & expert research

Ran focus groups and expert interviews to ground information architecture, flows, and high-fidelity prototypes in evidence.

Conference & panel work

Presented posters at EHPS, OPP Congress, and VI SIRPS; defended the research plan to a panel at ISPA.

AI-native, hands-on, learning every day

Most of my document work, automation, design, development, and UX research runs through Cursor. I move between research, Figma, and code in the same week, not across separate handoffs. I learn by watching tutorials, reading docs, and trying things in small builds until they work.

How I work with others

Curiosity

If I do not understand something, I go find out. I would rather ask a direct question early than build on a wrong assumption.

Honesty

I say when an idea is weak, including my own. Clear feedback beats polite drift, especially when time and trust are limited.

Craft

I refine until it is right. Details in copy, spacing, and flow are how respect for the user shows up.
